1st Anniversary

We celebrated our first anniversary three weeks ago.  It was really great to be able to take a break and just be together with nothing to do.  I'd forgotten that we made the brilliant decision to get married the day before what Weber hilariously calls 'Fall Break' (because it's 1 day.  At the U we had a whole week.)  So, this year our anniversary fell right on 'fall break' and Blake had work and school off.  So Thursday we drove up to the cabin above Causey Dam and stayed there until Saturday afternoon.  (Friday was our actual anniversary)  We brought a ton of movies and spent alot of time sitting around snuggling on the couch watching them.  We also thought it'd be fun to bring the camera and tripod and take pictures of ourselves all dressed up in our wedding clothes.  So I got to have my picture taken in my dress for the 6th time.  Who says you only wear your wedding dress once?  On a separate note if anyone knows a good reliable place to get it cleaned that won't destroy my dress please let me know.  It's long overdue.  Anyways, we had so much fun taking the pictures that we decided to do it again the next evening too.  I liked my hair more on the first day though, but oh well.  It was a little frustrating taking pictures of ourselves, because it's not like you can keep the focus and framing really great, but it was alright to just take these pictures and not have to worry about how good they'd look because we just did them for fun.  Blake got me a lovely anniversary gift to make it easier-a wireless remote shutter release.  Romantic, I know.  :)  But really I love camera gadgets and so I was pretty excited.  Anyways, enough chatting and on with the pics!  I didn't really edit most of them, I figured it's about time I got this blog post put up and worry about perfect edits later.

 

 We also had the top of our wedding cake... not because we planned it, but just because it didn't get eaten before now.  Of course we only had a small slice, I mean who can eat a whole top of a cake with just 2 people?  But it still looked exquisite and event tasted just fine.  I think it's because it was kept in an ice cream bucket instead of a plastic bag.  I think it was fun to kind of in a way relive our wedding.  I was even in my dress as you can kind of tell from one of the pics :) 

 That was a really great weekend and I had a splendid time.  It's hard to believe a year has already come and gone.  Marriage still feels new and yet at the same time like we've been married forever.  All I know is it is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me and I am so content every day just knowing he's mine and I'm his, even though we don't have much else.  (Don't you dare start singing that song.  You know which one I'm talking about.)  Every day I look forward to the time when Blake comes home and enjoy every minute of being together, even the sad ones (which are not very often).  I'm so grateful to have found someone I get along with so incredibly well.  When people told me not to think that marriage was going to be all rainbows and happiness I thought they were telling the truth.  Wrong!  It has been overwhelmingly an amazing experience and by far the best year of my life so far.  One of the best things about marriage is just being each other's best friends and loving each moment we are together.
Here's to many, many more wonderful anniversaries.  Blake, I love you, more than words can say.  <3

Our little family :)

So, it's been a while.  I'm just not really a big blogger, and when I have to write on my business blog a few times a week I don't really have the motivation to do it here too.  Well, I'm sucking it up today and doing it.  Not much noteworthy happened since last I blogged, except our Seattle trip.  Maybe I'll write about that later.  For now, I want to show off our first real family pictures.  Scott Jarvie (the one I interned with) had a day where he'd photograph other photographers for free, and so of course we joined in.  We don't get the full-res files though, which is fair.  He put up more pictures than I expected (65) and I like them alot.  But I knew I would, this is Scott Jarvie after all ;)  We had alot of fun getting to be ourselves in front of the camera(s, there were like 5 other photogs there too).  I think maybe being a photographer helps me be more confident in front of the lens.  Or maybe just being there with Blake and knowing we look cute together ;)  Either way, I think these pictures depict us pretty accurately.  Scott said he was sick of photographing us by the end haha.  But the other photogs weren't.  And deep down I know Scott was loving every minute of it. ;D

Pauly!!!

A dream came true for me on July 13, 2010.  My favorite Beatle came to town, and I got to see him!  Sure he's old now, but he can still rock as hard as anyone!  And his voice is still perfect in every way :)  He can even still 'ooooh' like Little Richard.  Oh yeah.  When I was younger and single I said that I'd get a time machine and go marry Paul when he was in his 20s.  Haha.  Before the concert me and dad went to Costa Vida.  I could have that every day and not get sick of it.  If only I could figure out how to make their enchilada sauce!  I tried once, it didn't work.  Anyways...  Rio Tinto Stadium was not the ideal concert venue... I mean, it's an outdoor stadium.  Remember how echoey the announcer is at football games?  Yeah, that's pretty much the sound there.  But it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  I could at least still hear everything.  Paul put on such a great show.  He is a riot to watch.  His cute little silly mannerisms and amazing British accent are so awesome.  I could watch him all day.  Wow he was so great.  He even played one of my favorite ever Beatles songs, Blackbird, which he said that he had wrote when he heard about the race riots in Little Rock, Arkansas, hoping that it would give hope to at least one person who was suffering there.  I didn't know that before, and it made one of my favorite songs even better.  Although there was alcohol served there luckily the people sitting next to us weren't drunk idiots.  Unfortunately they were both rather large women though.  There was a lady in front of us and to the side that we were pretty sure was on like 4 drugs.  The whole time she was standing up and dancing really weird, contorting her body in strange ways.  We thought she was going to break herself.  That was interesting.  Luckily she was not right in front of us.  The stadium did not allow 'cameras with removable lenses (professional cameras)' inside, which was very sad.  I could have gotten some at least halfway decent photos.  But instead all I have to offer you are pictures from the worst cell phone camera in the world.  Enjoy.

 A very fun part of the concert was during "Live and Let Die."  At the part that goes 'de de de     de de de    de de     de de de    de de de  de de'  (you know which one I'm talking about ;) ) they sent up fireworks!  Yeah it was pretty cool.  He also did a tribute to Jimi Hendrix at the end of one of his songs.  He started playing 'do do DO do-do do DO do-do do DO do do-do-do-do-' haha.  I act like you people can figure out what I'm singing with just typed words.  Anyways, if you've seen Wayne's World you should know which song it is when I raise my hands above my head and make little ears... He told a funny story of one time when Jimi was whammy-ing the heck out of his guitar (using the whammy bar to loosen & tighten the strings, which puts guitars very out of tune) and then he called out to see if Eric Clapton was in the audience, which he was, but he tried to hide.  Jimi then said 'Eric, would you come tune my guitar please?!'  Haha it was pretty funny.  Hard to tell a funny story in type though.  The concert was set to start at 7:30, but it didn't start until 8:15.  But it did go until after 11.  The band left, they came back for an encore, left again, then came back for a second encore, this time carrying the Utah flag and the British flag.  Paul was so full of energy and really put on a super great show.  He's definitely the concert I've most looked forward to going to.  I've seen a few other bands like Styx, Foreigner, Kansas, B.B. King, Michel Camilo, and some more that I can't think of right now, but Paul was definitely my favorite.  (I mean, Paul McCartney vs. Foreigner?  No contest!)  Thanks dad for going with me and having a jolly good time!  This will be a concert to remember for a lifetime.  And it was Paul's first, and most likely last, time performing in Utah.  Wow it was great.
