My husband is a sweetheart

Blake had a surprise for me this morning when I woke up.  He'd bought me a bouquet of pink stargazer lilies!  They smell like our wedding! (My bridal bouquet was white stargazers)  I love them so much!  I love Blake so much!  It's really special to me that he bought me flowers as an 'early birthday present' (2 weeks early), especially since he doesn't like spending money on frivolous things.  He gets major points from me :) I mean, what girl doesn't love getting flowers from the boy she loves?  :) :) :) :) :)
I LOVE YOU BLAKE!
Obviously I like them alot haha

Three Month-iversary

Yesterday was such a fun day.  In the morning me and my mom went to Tai Pan.  I only used part of my credit and got everything that I wanted.  A pretty vase with curly willow!  And I also got the cutest little birdie.  :)
Then in the evening me and Blake celebrated the first three months of our marriage by going to Olive Garden and then watching Edward Scissorhands together.  It was so much fun.  Even though it was only three months, it seems like so much longer ago that we were in the temple being sealed together forever and celebrating our union with our friends and family at our lovely reception.  I love Blake so much, and I can't wait for the fun we'll have together in the next three months and on.

Decorating is fun!

I've finally started decorating our new place.  It just seems a bit pointless to decorate when there's not even baseboards or outlet covers lol.  So today I took Blake to Hobby Lobby.  I love that store so much.  They're always having sales.  All of their floral stuff was 50% off so I got some lovely flowers, greenery, and black pebble things for this vase that we have.  I also got two more stretched canvases (they come in packs of two).  I love the flowers, I think they look so great on our bookshelf by that picture frame with 3 pictures in it that I think is so cute.  With the canvases I plan on doing something like this:
Of course the only canvases that were square were tiny.... and the big ones would have to be special ordered and cost me a TON, so I decided to stick with my 16x20s.  I was thinking black background, and then the tree would either be white, apple green, or the color of our wall (we still have paint left over from painting, it's a light tan color).
Tomorrow I'm going to Tai Pan with my mom since I have a gift card for there.  I am so excited!  I love decorating!
Here's some pics of the new flowers:

Lately I've been thinking

I recently remembered something that my dad told me a while ago, and realized just how true it is.  He said that if you are trying to hide something, you are ashamed of it or know it's wrong.  If you don't try to hide it, you believe that it isn't wrong.  I was thinking about that and about how I see this all the time.  A little kid breaks a vase and then tries to hide it because they know it's wrong.  A person tells others what their religion is because they believe it is not wrong and it is nothing to be ashamed of.  A person doesn't want to introduce their significant other to their family because they know that really this isn't the kind of person they should be dating.  Thinking about this I also thought of what I am ashamed of, and what I am proud of.  When I was younger I used to hide who I was.  Now I am proud of what I am.  I am a tall redhead.  I am a Latter-Day Saint.  I am a believer in Christ and God the Father.  I am obsessed with fish.  I am an artist.  This thought also saddens me when I see people who are hiding their vices, but don't change, or those who flaunt their vices like a virtue.  I know we all have things we are ashamed of, and things that we are proud of.  Maybe we should take a look at those things and decide what we can do to make ourselves proud.  :)

What a year it's been

It has indeed been quite the year.  In fact, I'd say it's been the best year of my life.  Why?  Well, let me tell you.  Here's an overview of what happened this year, both the good and the bad.
  • I made the decision to invest in a professional camera
  • I met this really cute boy in my economics class
  • I started dating said boy
  • I fell in love with him
  • I missed someone more than I'd ever missed anyone in my life when he left the state for 4 months
  • I welcomed many sweet and loving fishes into my home
  • I lost some of my best friends, who left a huge impression in my heart.  I will remember them always.  RIP Garth, Kiwi, and Winter
  • I got to plan my wedding, the day I'd been looking forward to for years
  • I was proposed to in a sweet and special way
  • I received my endowments
  • I got to be married and sealed to the most amazing, sweet, attractive, adorable, caring, and hardworking man that I know
  • I had the wedding and reception of my dreams.  My dress was perfect (thank you so much grandma!!!), the reception center was super classy, the decor was pretty, the cake was the most amazing I've ever seen (thank you Korin!), the weather was absolutely perfect, and most important of all it was the beginning of me and Blake's life together!
  • I went on an amazing and stress-free honeymoon with my sweetheart
  • We moved into our first apartment
  • We built our own apartment for ourselves (with the help of many members of both our families, thank you!) and moved in
  • My name changed!
  • I cut my hair shorter than it's been since I was little
  • I started my own photography business
  • I applied for my associates degree
  • We had our first Christmas together as a married couple
  • I loved my husband more than I've ever loved anyone
Yeah, I'd say it's been the best year yet.  I just can't wait for what next year will bring.  In the words of The Who, I've got a feeling 2010 is gonna be a good year, especially if you and me sit it in together Blakey.
