Well, I am now a 23 year old (since last Tuesday). I feel so old right now, although I know I shouldn't. My birthday was awesome, except for one thing....
There was a SPIDER in one of my presents. I'm not even kidding. It crawled into the tissue paper wrapping one of my presents and scared the heck out of me when I was opening it. STORY OF MY LIFE. It's like they follow me around and try to scare me in the most creative ways they can come up with.
Other than that though, it was a great day. I got a new haircut the day before, so I was feeling cute. I like my new cut because I can style my bangs many different ways and it looks cute in all of them. Here's how I did my hair on my birthday.
Blake had school & work all day until 5, so I went out with my mom during the day. We went to the new shopping center in Farmington. First we went in Ulta, and I got lots of pretty stuff. I am especially excited about the GLITTER eyeshadow. Because a girl can never have too much glitter. We spent a ridiculous amount of time in that store, and my mom kept saying 'it's a good thing it's your birthday.' Haha. Next we stopped by Ross, where my mom bought me some new exercise shirts. Then finally, we went to Harmons and got fancy cheese & bread to eat for lunch, and some gelato! It was pretty much the perfect meal. After that I went home and had some time alone to kill, so I just watched some Simpsons and House. You can't clean the house on your birthday! ;)
When Blake got home I got to open my presents from him. Which were actually from me, since I bought all of them (except one). Oh well. And that is when the spider incident happened. My presents from him were a perfect black lace dress, awesome 'cognac' boots, bright blue pants, and a small seahorse-shaped dish that we bought as a souvenir in California. He also gave me an orange wrapped in a chocolate orange wrapper. That's the one he got himself, haha.
We went over to my parent's house for dinner. We had pizza from Gabor Brothers, salad, and rootbeer floats. It was delicious. My birthday cake was the same I've had for many years because it's the best; homemade oreo cheesecake. It is amazing. When it came to present time, Peeps gave me a Beatles t-shirt and Red Vines. My parents gave me their favorite cookbook, a duplicate of my favorite purse for when it wears out, a sweater, and my favorite gift, some Shel Silverstein books! I grew up with those books, and am so thrilled to have my own copies now. We also watched an episode of My Fair Wedding on their netflix (which my dad wasn't so thrilled about) and later we watched I-Robot. It was a great day!

Last Minute California Trip
About two weeks before my birthday, on a Monday night, we were told that we could go to California on Wednesday if we wanted to. So we did. We are spontaneous and crazy like that when we can be. My mother in law gets to stay at Marriott resorts for free because of her job, so we got to stay for free at this amazing resort. It was way nice, and had 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen.
It was incredible!
As soon as Blake came home from work on Wednesday we took off for Cali. We got there around 1am, and the next morning we went to Disneyland!!! I am so glad I finally got my husband to go with me. (He pretends that he doesn't like fun things.) We enjoyed ourselves very much. With only one day there we only had time to do the favorite rides, and thus I only got Tower of Terror in 3 times. The lines for everything were very short and we had a great time. I was very excited to get a Happy Birthday pin. Tons of people tell you happy birthday when you have one, it is awesome!
I really wanted a picture like this. I only wish there weren't so many people crowded around. That's how it always is trying to get a picture by the castle though.
On Friday... I'm not sure exactly what we did most of the day. My shins hurt so bad that day that I could barely walk. Seriously. But in the evening we went to dinner with Blake's step-dad's daughter (confusing much?) Emily at this little mexican place where the lady taking our order messed half of our orders up. But it was great food nonetheless. Then we went for frozen yogurt. It was fun.
On Saturday we started out the day by going to the Aquarium of the Pacific. It is a huge aquarium that has tons of awesome creatures. Later we went swimming at the resort (they have at least 5 pools there,) went to the beach, and then had a disappointing dinner at a place I thought was good when we went there in Portland last summer. Oh well.
One of my favorite fish, the long-horned cowfish. So ugly, it's cute!
Poor guy had a curly tail.
That is one big puffer.
Nom nom nom
I kinda wanted one of these mugs because they have puffers on them, but Blake convinced me that they were too ugly (cause they are) and that we should just take a picture of them instead.
We drove home on Sunday. So that was our trip. I looooooved it, it was so nice to have some fun and relax a bit. The weather there was amazing too, it was like 80 degrees the whole time. I was very sad to come back to cold weather, I had seriously completely forgotten that it was winter back home. We had a great vacation, and spent hardly anything too! It was perfect.
