February 2013 Ipsy Bag

I got my second Ipsy Glam Bag a couple weeks ago.  Read my post here to find out more about what Ipsy is.  Besides the things I mention in this post, another thing I think is really great about Ipsy is that they encourage their members to talk to each other and discuss their bags.  It allows us to find new ways to use the products we got, as well as ensures that everyone is getting the service they deserve.  And now, February's bag!

This month's bag didn't blow me away like January's did.  However, it was still great, and I got a couple of products I'd really been wanting to try.  This bag came much earlier than last month's, so now I know last month really did take forever just because of the hairspray.
The bag this month was black faux-patent leather with red lining.  Not really my thing.  I feel like it gets covered in fingerprints and dust super quick.  But at least it was somewhat Valentinesy.  And I'll definitely be using it, so I can't complain.
The first item is Pop Beauty Lash Kapow Mascara, sample size 0.17 fluid ounces.  For the awesome name it has, it isn't really that awesome of a mascara.  It doesn't seem to lengthen or volumize, and I prefer mascara that does both.  It usually stays put, but one of the times I wore this it started getting under my eyes.  I'll keep using this because my other mascara finally dried up, but I wouldn't buy it again.  I am always on the hunt for the perfect mascara and am glad I got to cross another one off the list at least.
Next item is Pixi Flawless & Poreless face primer.  It is a sample size of 0.5 fluid ounces.  I really like this primer.  It seems to help my makeup go on smoother and make my pores a tiny bit less visible.  It also makes my face feel really soft, which I love.  Overall a great product.  I'm not sure if I will repurchase or not, as it's kind of pricey (around $30 for full size.)  But this large sample should last me quite a while.
Another item we got is a Lash Card 4-pack.  These really didn't do anything for me.  It's supposed to help you not get mascara on your lids, which is not something I have a problem with.  I tried one just so I could review it, and it just made things more complicated and I had the same results in the end.  I could see this being good for people who's eye shape makes it hard to not get mascara on their lids/browbone.  But for someone like me, it's just unnecessary.  I'll try to find someone who can use these and give this to them.
Next is Mica Beauty gel liner.  This is supposedly the full size product (0.18oz), although it doesn't have a label on it that says how big it is.  I have been wanting to try a gel liner forever, so I was excited to get this.  Everyone says that it stays in place and won't budge, even when they take showers or sleep or whatever, but for me this is not the case.  It smeared on me every time I wore it, especially around the outer corners of my eyes.  I don't know if there's some trick to getting it to stay that I don't know about or what.  I do have a notoriously hard time getting liners to stay where I put them, and usually use liquid because it's the least likely to move on me.  This liner came in black, which is unfortunately too dark for my light skin and hair.  I usually use brown or brownish black.  I'm not giving up on gel liner though.  I've heard good things about Maybelline's gel liner, so I think I'll give that one a go if they have my color.  I think I'll try to find someone who can use this gel liner as well.  It is worth $30 after all.
The last item is a Coastal Scents eyeshadow quad.  This is probably my favorite item this month.  I've tried all of the colors except for the matte yellow one (I'm a little scared of yellow eyeshadow) and I think they're great!  They have great pigmentation and go on nice.  In fact, I liked them so much I used my coupon code to buy a few things from Coastal Scents.  I'll do a blog post on those when I get them.

So that's February's bag!  Not as awesome as January's, but it helped me discover some new products and try new things.  Next month I'm going to try really hard to not look at the sneak peaks until my bag arrives.  I'm not sure if I can do it, but I'll at least try.  Is anyone else out there an Ipsy subscriber?  What did you think of this month's bag?
